Arunachal border bridge faces collapse from overloaded trucks

Itanagar: The Bailey bridge at Krowti in Kibithoo Circle is failing. Repeated trips by overloaded trucks damaged the structure, putting the crossing over the Lohit River at risk. This bridge is the only path connecting the remote Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh to the outside world. It remains a lifeline for locals near the India-China border.

Kaho village sits right on the border line. It depends on this route for daily supplies and basic transit. Damage to the steel beams forced the administration to block all movement across the bridge indefinitely. Experts now fear the structure cannot hold its own weight.

Minister for Women and Child Development Dasanglu Pul issued a direct plea to the public. She told vehicle owners, drivers, and commuters to "strictly follow the prescribed load limits and cooperate with the administration." The MLA urged everyone to respect the traffic advisory while authorities scramble to fix the damage.

Work crews must inspect the site before any traffic resumes. Commuters should find other routes for now. Officials warn everyone to use caution until the government officially clears the crossing for use again.
