Guwahati: IndianOil celebrated its 67th anniversary on Tuesday in Digboi. Executive Director Rahul Prashant kicked off the festivities at 3:45 a.m. by flagging off a 67-km cyclothon at the AOD Administrative Gate. Twenty-nine participants, including two women, completed the ride in two hours and 57 minutes with an elevation gain of 54 metres. This marked the first time a refinery head personally started the pre-dawn event.
S. Firoz Hashmy reached the finish line first. Retired Assistant Manager and national-level athlete Narayan Jaishy followed, along with Junior Engineering Assistant Mahendra Mili. Prashant honored all three at the gate. As the company noted, this event reflected the spirit of the day.
Operations expanded beyond cycling. The company opened Project Sanjyog on Shillong Road and a new bus stand near Shanti Para. Staff also activated the DVI-SROTAS-JALSANGAMA-PARIYOJANA at the NSA plant. A blood donation drive ran from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the IOCL AOD Hospital.
Formal ceremonies occurred at the Golden Jubilee Complex. Officials held a lamp lighting, recited the IndianOil song, and cut a celebratory cake. Management honored employees with 35 years of service, recognized Suggestion Scheme Award winners, and handed out accolades to high-performing students. The day scheduled its final event at 6 p.m. with an inter-school football match at Jubilee Field. Digboi Refinery, commissioned in 1901, remains a cornerstone of India's petroleum history.
