Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh switched on the 132 kV Miao-Namsai transmission line this Wednesday. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the completion of the 41-km project. It links Namsai, Diyun, and Miao to slash dependence on older, radial networks. The line brings stability to the power supply in Changlang district. It also feeds the area’s rising energy demand.
The project is part of the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission and Distribution System, or CSST&DS. Officials finished 91 of the 239 total components under this initiative so far. Mein praised the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and local officials for the work. He stated, "The successful charging of the 132 kV Miao-Namsai Transmission Line marks another important milestone in Arunachal Pradesh's journey towards a stronger, more reliable, and future-ready power infrastructure."
The central government bankrolled the scheme to bolster grids in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. It aims to cut transmission losses while pushing development in remote border zones. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited leads the build alongside the state government. The project involves new substations and distribution gear. The entire program carries a 2027 completion deadline to help connect the state grid to the national network.
