Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh powered up the 132 kV Along-Kambang transmission line and the associated 132/33 kV substation in West Siang district this week. The project aims to bolster energy security across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who oversees the Power and Non-Conventional Energy Resources portfolio, confirmed the successful charging of the infrastructure. It marks a major leap for the region.
This new grid capacity will provide vital support for the Tato Hydroelectric Power Projects located in Shi-Yomi district. Officials view this as a primary foundation for the state power sector. "A stronger transmission network means better power reliability, greater grid stability, and the capacity to meet rising energy needs," said Mein.
The work is part of a larger, state-wide effort to modernize power transmission and distribution. Statistics from project officials show that 95 of 239 components under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening Transmission and Distribution System are now live. This energy backbone will eventually fuel both local homes and upcoming industrial projects.
Mein praised the collaboration between the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, the Department of Power, local administrations, and various executing agencies. The completed network is intended to drive economic growth for years to come.
