Ambrose Secondary Student Wins East Jaintia Hills Science Seminar

Shillong: Suhana Paul took top honors at the District Level Science Seminar 2026. She represents Ambrose Secondary School. The competition happened Thursday at Jaintia Eastern College in Khliehriat. Officials organized the event around the theme of Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospects and Challenges.

Daithrang I Dhar from Little Star Secondary School in Ladrymbai finished as first runner-up. Sakanipaia Siangshai of Khliehriat Higher Secondary School took second runner-up. Paul now advances to the State Level Science Seminar to represent East Jaintia Hills.

JEC Director Dr. P Nongtdu addressed the crowd. He spoke on the necessity of a secure and sustainable energy sector to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He said, "The increasing importance of renewable sources such as solar, wind, green hydrogen and nuclear energy, alongside developments in electric mobility" remains vital. Students also presented their own ideas regarding innovation and energy conservation.

Block Mission Coordinator Jimi War attended the seminar. MePDCL Assistant Executive Engineer Heimonjur Manner and Assistant Professor Nishwa Rymbai joined the audience. Various students and teachers from the district filled the hall.
