Shillong: The Jaintia Students Movement Education Cell honored 81 local students on Saturday. The 8th Excellence Award ceremony took place at Jaintia Eastern College in Khliehriat. Hard work paid off. The group recognized 27 SSLC students, 31 HSSLC students, 19 graduates, and four people for unique achievements.
East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police Shailendra Bamaniya served as chief guest. He praised the students for their academic success. Bamaniya discussed his own career path to the Indian Police Service after facing early failures. He told the winners to give back to their community.
JSM president Leningstar Rymbai spoke to the crowd. He told the students to aim high. "Academic success should be used for the welfare of the community and reminded the students of the importance of preserving their character," Rymbai said. He insisted that winners must keep a spirit of humility and service.
Dignitaries joined the celebration. Attendees included ASP Spearsing Paslein, Jaintia Eastern College Chairman P. Nongtdu, and JSM general secretary Roitre Dkhar. Proud parents and local officials watched as the students accepted their awards.
