Kohima: The Rotary Club of Dimapur held its Gyan Jyoti Awards 2026 on September 10. The event took place at the Rotary Centre in Dimapur to mark Teachers Day. Organizers handed out awards to six educators serving schools across Dimapur and Chümoukedima.
Award recipients included Zuinla Jamir from GHS Sematila, Marina Semy from Cosmopolitan School, and Dhan Bahadur Chetry from Gonyü Memorial School. Renthunglo Ovung of GMS Midland, Loshumbeni from GMS Metha Colony, and Anungla Pongener of GHSS Lengrijan also received honors. The club recognized its own ranks as well. Rotarians Kitoshi Zhimomi, Monoj Bhattacharjee, and Sanjukta Bhattacharjee earned recognition for their contributions to the field of education.
Club president Pradeep Goel opened the event. He hailed teachers as the backbone of the country. "Teachers as architects who shape the careers and character of students, thereby contributing to nation building," Goel said. He urged the public to value instructors every day, not just on holidays.
Interact president Neiketonuo Shuya addressed the crowd. She emphasized that honoring those who build society remains a shared duty. Pradip Jain chaired the program, with Sanjay Jain serving as co-chair. The ceremony highlighted the role teachers play in fostering confident citizens and successful professionals.
