Guwahati: Charaideo Police dismantled a narcotics pipeline stretching from Delhi to Upper Assam. They also cleared 27 stolen motorcycles from Nagaland. The narcotics investigation kicked off July 17 on Dhodor Ali Road. Officers stopped a Maruti Suzuki Swift at Majgaon. They found 46.11 grams of heroin in a hidden car compartment.
Police arrested Manuj Gogoi. He faces charges under Mathurapur Police Station Case No. 24/2026 for violations of the NDPS Act. Gogoi fingered Bhaskar Gogoi during questioning. Bhaskar provided the cash. Mobile phone data linked Bhaskar to an active extremist cadre named Mridupawan Dahutia.
Investigators roped in Debasish Dahutia and Bitu Hazarika for their roles in the operation. Debasish allegedly connected Bhaskar to the extremists. The chain led police to Apurba Thakur in Delhi. "Police said the probe has so far uncovered an interstate narcotics network connecting Delhi with Upper Assam, along with a suspected linkage to an active extremist cadre."
Officers captured Thakur on August 27. A court granted four days of transit remand for his move to Charaideo. Financial trails also show a 1.12 lakh rupee Paytm transfer to Bhaskar's wife, Boby Gogoi. A shipment of tablets sits stalled in transit. The suspects halted the delivery after Bhaskar's initial arrest.
Meanwhile, Charaideo and Nagaland police teamed up in Mon district. They recovered 27 stolen motorcycles and scooters. Thieves swiped these bikes across Upper Assam before moving them into Nagaland. Officials believe over 100 more stolen bikes remain active in Mon. Police plan to return the seized vehicles after checking ownership records.
