Guwahati: Police busted a drug operation in Golakganj late on September 19. Officers raided Tamarhat and walked away with 96.01 grams of heroin. They arrested three suspects on the spot. Injamul Haque, Manowar Hussain, and Zakir Khan are now in custody.
The arrests signal a broader crackdown on local trafficking rings. Authorities are tightening surveillance to block supply lines. Detectives are currently interrogating the trio to find the source of the drugs and map out their network. They want to know where the shipment was headed.
Police stated, "Following the latest seizure, police are questioning the arrested individuals to ascertain the source of the heroin, its intended destination and whether they are linked to other members of a wider drug supply network." Investigators are digging into potential ties to other dealers in the region. The goal remains to keep narcotics out of local communities.

Law enforcement expanded its reach beyond Golakganj with a separate joint operation by Raha and Kampur police in Kakatigaon. Officers detained two suspects, identified as Akramul Haque and Atikur Rahman, during the raid.
The sweep turned up more than just heroin. Investigators seized eight mobile phones, 13 containers, two syringes, and 29,060 rupees in cash. Detectives are now scrubbing the phones and tracking the money trail to expose the wider network behind the supplies.

Authorities are also ramping up pressure on the illicit liquor trade ahead of the Nagaon by-election. Juria police shut down an illegal liquor outlet operating out of the local market, just steps away from a Naamghar. Officers cleared the scene, seizing a heavy stash of bottles from the site.
