Guwahati: Assam Police and the Railway Protection Force hit the drug trade hard. They seized over 217 kilograms of narcotics in two separate busts. Four people are now in custody.
Police intercepted a vehicle in Rowta, uncovering 216.64 kilograms of ganja packed into 16 separate bundles. Officers later raided a home in Dalgaon connected to the operation. They found 1.73 lakh rupees in cash stashed on the property. Two suspects were taken into custody during these Rowta-based efforts.
Meanwhile, RPF agents boarded the DN Kamrup Express at Kamakhya railway station. They pulled 1.052 kilograms of suspected heroin from two passengers. The RPF handed both suspects and the narcotics over to the Guwahati Government Railway Police for processing. Legal action is now underway for all four individuals.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the work of the police and the RPF. He stated, "Assam Police and RPF for the seizures and their continued action against the illegal drug trade." These operations signal a major push by state authorities to throttle the flow of contraband across the region.
