Gunmen Attack Kuki Village Along Imphal-Tamei Road

Imphal: Armed individuals opened fire on Songjang Kuki village early Saturday morning. The attack took place along the Imphal-Tamei road in Manipur. Bullets flew, yet nobody got hit. No property damage was reported either. Kangpokpidistrict police arrived on the scene fast to lock down the area. They have not made a single arrest yet.

The Twilang Area Core Committee hit back with a statement from Twilang Lhang. They blamed NSCN-IM cadres for the shooting, claiming they hid behind the identity of Thonglang Akutpa Volunteers. This marks the second time Kuki civilians faced such heat in recent weeks. The committee warned these provocations threaten the region as ethnic tensions simmer across the state.

Community leaders want immediate boots on the ground in Songjang Pakang and nearby spots. They fear the violence will spread without more security. The committee asked for an impartial investigation from state and central agencies to catch the culprits. They called for public calm and urged all sides to follow the law. The group stated: "Dialogue and adherence to the rule of law were essential to restoring normalcy and preventing further escalation."
