Guwahati: Makum Co-District Commissioner Niluram Sharma inspected the M/S TTC Infra India hot-mix and infrastructure plant on A.T. Road Saturday. The inspection followed fierce protests by local residents, school management committees, and community groups. Neighbors cited heavy dust pollution, incomplete construction hazards, and crumbling roads.

Locals blocked National Highway 37 at Hukan Phukuri on Friday night to force action. They burned tyres and shouted slogans against the company. The demonstration disrupted regional traffic and stranded commuters until police intervened. One protester stated, "We are not against development, but pollution must be brought under control. Development should not come at the expense of people's health and well-being."

Sharma met with residents and company officials to hash out a plan. The community demanded compensation for losses caused by the plant operations. While they support infrastructure growth, they insist on public safety. The administration intends to track the company's progress on fixing these environmental and safety violations.
