Tingkhong residents demand action on crumbling road network

Guwahati: A critical road link in Assam's Tingkhong constituency is falling apart. The stretch connecting Dirai Chariali to Kenduguri via Kakowoni village remains in ruins after years of neglect. Commuters struggle daily. Heavy tea estate vehicles have pulverized the surface, leaving massive potholes and uneven terrain that stop residents from traveling safely.

Rain turns the road into a swamp during the monsoon. Dry spells bring clouds of thick dust that coat nearby homes. Students bear the heaviest burden. Kids who cycle or walk to school cannot arrive on time because the road is a gauntlet of hazards. Local anger is mounting as broken election promises pile up alongside the debris.

Residents claim officials have ignored them for years. They now demand action before the rains return. The community is finished with vague assurances. As one local source stated, "Residents are now seeking concrete action rather than assurances on improving the condition of the road." They want a fully paved surface to restore basic access to their town.
