Guwahati: Bajali MLA Dharmeswar Roy took a shovel to the Indo-Bhutan Road. He personally led efforts to fill deep, water-logged potholes on a stretch of National Highway 127 in Pathsala. The damaged section sits right in front of the local BJP office. Gravel was brought in to patch the craters that have plagued motorists for a long time.
Rain turns these holes into hidden traps. Drivers struggle to spot them under standing water. Roy questioned the standard policy of waiting for wrecks before fixing infrastructure. He asked, "Why can't we develop roads before any untoward incident happens? What is the benefit of repairing a road after an accident?"
Locals have long complained about the road's dangerous state. The MLA decided to bypass bureaucratic delays and patch the international route himself. His work targets the immediate danger in front of the party headquarters.
