Guwahati: Nagpur and Assam police rescued two men from captivity in Assam’s Chirang district. Hasnain Bilal Asrar Ahmed and his friend, Roshan, also known as Zubair Rajesh Bundel, are now safe. The pair traveled to Guwahati on October 11 before vanishing.
Three days later, a man identified as Rocky reached out to the victims’ families. He made a video call. He demanded 15 lakh rupees and threatened to burn them alive if the cash did not arrive. The victim's sister, Iqra Tabassum, lodged a formal complaint in Nagpur after receiving the terrifying demands.
Tehsil police registered a case and moved fast. They tracked and arrested 28-year-old Nitin Wanjari, a resident of Lashkaribagh. During questioning, Wanjari admitted to his role in the scheme. He claimed he conspired with Rocky to pull off the kidnapping.
Nagpur police officers traveled to Chirang to finish the job. With help from Assam police, they freed both men. The survivors returned to Nagpur to reunite with their families. Investigators are still hunting for the main suspect. Authorities confirmed, "The main accused remains at large."
