Vincent Pala Eyes Shillong Seat Amid Government Frustration

Shillong: Meghalaya Congress president Vincent H. Pala expects a strong showing in the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha by-election. He points to widespread voter fatigue regarding the current government. Voters are tired. Pala says the party senses this momentum on the ground.

“Wherever we go, we see people frustrated with the government, and we can say that we will do well in the polls,” Pala said. He dismissed premature victory claims from rival political parties. The Election Commission has not yet set a schedule for the vote. The BJP has yet to name a candidate, and a field of independent contenders remains uncertain.

Pala questioned the logic of rivals predicting success before the formal race even begins. The seat fell vacant following the February death of sitting MP Dr. Ricky AJ Syngkon. While law usually mandates filling such vacancies within six months, officials have yet to provide a date for this contest.
