Indian Fisherman Missing Near Assam Border After Possible Abduction

Guwahati: Balai Namasudra went missing Tuesday morning. The 35-year-old Indian fisherman left his home in the Gobindapur area at 6 am. He never returned. His family suspects Bangladeshi nationals snatched him near the Sribhumi district border.

Relatives filed a formal complaint at the Sribhumi Sadar Police Station after hours of silence. The family claims the BSF tracks everyone entering the zone inside the barbed-wire fence. BSF records do not list his name. This fuels questions about how he reached the border perimeter undetected.

Police and the Border Security Force launched a coordinated search operation to track him down. Sribhumi Senior Superintendent of Police Leena Doley confirmed the disappearance and the ongoing investigation. She stated, "Police are taking the matter seriously." Officers are still determining if he was kidnapped or vanished due to other factors.
