Assam Moneylender Arrested Following Train Suicide

Guwahati: Abhayapuri Police arrested a moneylender after a local man took his own life. Babul Hussain, from Nayagaon, sits in custody while investigators comb through the details of Abhayapuri Police Station Case No. 291/2026. Authorities pinned him down following the death of Ajid Ali.

Ali died on October 1. He jumped in front of a moving train near the Haripani railway gate in Salantapara. His family points the finger directly at Hussain. They claim Ali borrowed money at interest and could not handle the constant pressure. Hanif Ali filed the official complaint that triggered the arrest.

The police report lists Hussain and another suspect, Iman Ali, as the targets of the family's formal accusations. Investigators officially charged the case under Sections 108, 351(2), 352, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police continue to look into the events leading up to the tragedy. As the investigation moves forward, officers are digging into the specific claims of harassment, noting that "the family alleged that he was unable to bear the harassment by the moneylender."
