Guwahati: Manikpur police busted two men at Bhandara Bazar for peddling a counterfeit gold boat. Officers arrested 25-year-old Sofikul Islam from Nambar Para No. 2 and 55-year-old Aliyar Khan from Golapara No. 3 during the operation. They had the fake goods on them.
The suspects allegedly bought the phony item in Rangia for Rs 2 lakh. They hauled it into the district before the law stepped in. Police also grabbed two mobile phones and a vehicle, registration AS-01-EW-2076, from the scene.
The Girukabari Police Patrol Inspection Outpost led the sting. Officer-in-Charge Hriday Goswami confirmed the department is still working the case. He stated, "An investigation is underway to gather further details and ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged transaction."
