Massive cavity opens under new Nagaon-Tezpur highway

Guwahati: A massive cavity has opened beneath the newly built Nagaon-Tezpur National Highway near Kaliabor Tiniali. The void sits directly under the road near the flyover. It looks like a tunnel. Much of the soil underneath the carriageway has washed away, putting commuters at risk.

Heavy vehicles face the biggest threat. Local residents blame contractor Ganapati for the structural failure. They claim the company used poor materials and ignored basic safety standards during construction. The road is unstable. One resident stated, "The condition has made movement along the stretch potentially hazardous."

Despite the visible danger, the construction agency and local administration have not intervened. People living nearby want officials to inspect the site immediately. They are calling for authorities to block off the vulnerable section and start repairs before the entire road collapses or a major accident occurs.
