Silchar Drain Wall Collapses One Day After Completion

Guwahati: A concrete wall for a new culvert-cum-drain on Kathal Road fell apart just one day after builders finished the job. The structure, located between Bank Colony and Laskar Lane in Silchar, collapsed on the afternoon of October 23. Workers had only wrapped up the project on October 22.

Local residents blame poor materials and zero supervision for the failure. While these claims remain unverified, the community is furious. They now face dangerous conditions. People are forced to traverse the site during their daily commutes.

The situation hits the vulnerable hardest. "Children and elderly residents are reportedly being forced to navigate unsafe conditions," locals noted. Beyond the collapse, neighbors complain about the lack of alternative routes for traffic.

The public wants answers. Demands include a formal investigation, a check on construction quality, and swift punishment for those at fault. Authorities must fix the mess and provide a safe path for commuters immediately.
