Guwahati: Assam Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah formed the Chief Minister’s Green Task Force today. The team includes 82 students. These fellows recently finished training abroad through the Chief Minister’s Green Fellowship programme. They now lead the state’s environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Mallabaruah signaled a push for new infrastructure. Work on the proposed ring road in Guwahati starts soon. The massive project requires significant amounts of stone and sand. The minister insists on legal mining to feed these development goals. He maintains that officials must balance growth with sustainable practices. "Legal mining would be necessary to meet the requirements of development projects while ensuring sustainable development," Mallabaruah said.

The state has not yet released specific timelines for the ring road. Officials also kept quiet on the exact duties of the new fellows.
