Guwahati: The GMCH Mother and Child Hospital in Assam secured a five-star GRIHA rating. It is a big win. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the news on Sunday, August 9, praising the facility for its sustainable infrastructure. The hospital met the standards set by the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment framework.

Sarma noted that the hospital earned the certification for being "sustainable, energy efficient and patient friendly." The rating system judges buildings based on water conservation, waste management, and construction practices. It also looks at total environmental performance and energy use. The Chief Minister said the project shows the government's push to build better healthcare spaces for the public.
