Guwahati: Discarded Hindu idols are cluttering the streets of Dhubri, Assam. The statues appear on roadsides, near dustbins, under trees, and on boundary walls. Residents find the sight offensive. It also ruins the town's cleanliness.

Social worker Dipankar Majumdar spends years gathering these abandoned figures. He arranges for their formal immersion to satisfy religious customs. He insists that worshipers must stop treating sacred items like common trash. Majumdar stated, "idols should not be discarded like ordinary waste after religious ceremonies."

Locals Bappi Biswas, Rakesh Ghosh, and Govinda Biswas back his initiative. The group wants citizens to handle statues with care instead of dumping them in public. Majumdar reminds the public that keeping the streets clean is a shared duty. He demands that everyone step up to maintain local dignity by following proper immersion rituals after prayers.
