Guwahati: A woman in the Kachuarkhas Part-I area of Dhubri, Assam, filed a police complaint against Basir Uddin for sexual assault. The accused is the husband of Dharmasala Gaon Panchayat president Janobi Mandal. He reportedly used his official connection to gain entry into the woman's home under the guise of processing Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana documents.

The incident allegedly occurred at 11 pm on October 18. The woman stated that she was alone while her husband worked out of the area. Basir Uddin allegedly entered the residence and forced himself on her. She fought back. "She raised an alarm, following which the accused fled through an unlatched window," the complaint states.

The victim filed the report at the Dharmasala Police Outpost on October 21. She cited the absence of her husband as the reason for the delay in notifying authorities. Officials have yet to verify the allegations or announce any arrests in the ongoing investigation.
