Guwahati: Gauripur police raided a home in Chitolkati and rescued two women from a human trafficking ring. The victims, both from Vella in Barpeta district, were lured to the site by false promises of work. They faced transport to Bihar.

Officers hit the residence of Abul Hussain under the jurisdiction of Gauripur Police Station following a tip. The raid yielded one arrest. Police took Mariyam Bibi, a resident of Alomganj, into custody on suspicion of running the operation. Investigators believe she links to a larger group working across state lines.

The department remains active. "Further investigation is underway," officials stated while working to map the full reach of the racket. Detectives now focus on identifying other members of the criminal network.
