Guwahati: Bilaipur police intercepted two vans stuffed with government-supplied urea fertilizer in Hailakandi. The haul included 30 bags meant for local farmers. The bags featured the Prime Minister’s image, signaling their intended use for state-supported agriculture.

Officers flagged down the two Eco vans, marked AS 11 CC 1810 and AS 24 C 6943, late last night. One driver ditched his van and vanished into the darkness. Police managed to grab the other driver, Rafiquar Rahman Choudhury.

The Ramanathpur Police now hold both the vans and the illicit cargo. Officials confirm they have officially registered a case regarding the seizure. Investigators are currently hunting for the source of the fertilizer and its intended recipients in Mizoram. One official stated, "The police have launched an investigation to ascertain the actual owner of the seized fertiliser, the owners of the two vehicles and the source and intended destination of the fertiliser."
