Guwahati: Assam police and the Central Reserve Police Force hit a major drug haul. They seized 13.503 kilograms of yaba tablets in Hailakandi district. The haul sits near the Assam-Mizoram border. Officers acting on intelligence stopped a Bolero pickup, registration MZ 03 8022, during a routine naka check near the Ramnathpur Police Station.
The truck came from Mizoram. Authorities searched the vehicle and pulled out the massive shipment of narcotics. The drugs hold a market value topping Rs 10 crore. Two men, identified as Rafiqul Islam and Rashid Ahmed, now sit in custody. Both suspects hail from Patharkandi in Sribhumi district.
Police have started an intensive interrogation. Investigators want to know where the shipment originated and where the smugglers intended to drop the load. They are also hunting for others in the trafficking network. A senior official stated, "Further investigation into the case is underway."
