Guwahati: The Shrimanta Shankar Academy and Girijananda Chowdhury University are bringing the third Bina Chowdhury Srimanta Sankardev Heritage Festival to Guwahati. The two-day event runs October 8 and 9 at the university campus in Azara. Organizers confirmed the plans during a September 23 press conference at the Guwahati Press Club.
Students can compete in Borgeet, Sattriya dance, heritage quizzes, essay writing, and fine arts. The event also hands out Heritage Awards to rising regional artistes. Participants can join workshops on calligraphy and traditional Assamese mask-making. A regional art and craft exhibition will be on display throughout the festival.
Scholars and practitioners will gather for a panel discussion on preserving indigenous traditions today. The event aims to connect youth with Assam's cultural roots. Organizers hope for a wide turnout, inviting educators, students, and the public.
