Guwahati: The Swadesh Swabhiman youth lecture series reached its 25th milestone on August 2. A crowd gathered at the Sangeetacharya Lakshmiram Barua Sadan on the Asam Sahitya Sabha campus in Guwahati for the event. The Asam Kotha Group organized the meeting under the direction of the Asam Sahitya Sabha. Attendees marked the start of the program with a minute of silence for victims of recent floods in Assam.
Students, scholars, and writers packed the hall. General Secretary Debajit Borah noted the series began at the same site in 2021. He trusts the project will keep sparking intellectual fire in local youth. Former Sabha president Dr. Kuladhar Saikia launched the platform to build research, communication, and public speaking skills. He noted that grasping the state's civilisational and cultural heritage is essential for creating responsible citizens. Eight speakers tackled topics ranging from economic goals and Sattras to the preservation of Assamese identity.
The day included a dialogue on development between Krishna Bora and Dorathi Bora. Past contributors sent messages from across the globe to honor the occasion. Asam Kotha Group co-founder Mukul Gogoi highlighted the hard work behind the achievement. He stated, "the continued success of the initiative reflects their dedication to fostering informed public discourse."
Organizers released a commemorative book at the event. It contains archived speeches and personal reflections from past sessions. Guests included Swapnanil Barua, Shantikam Hazarika, Alak K. Buragohain, Leena Sarma, Mayur Bora, Pradyumna Goswami, and Chinmoyee Goswami. Rikee Talukdar, Pratyashee Priya, Anirban Parashar, and Aditi Borah ran the stage.
