Aizawl: The Mizo National Front leveled heavy accusations against the Zoram People’s Movement government on Friday. Opposition leaders claim the state is actively undermining the Right to Information Act by hiding agreements signed with private hospitals under the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme.

MNF general secretary J. Malsawmzuala Vanchhawng stated the State Information Commission ordered the release of these documents by October 12. The mandate followed a previous court order. Vanchhawng claimed the government ignored these instructions and attempted to keep the deals buried. He said, "The government drafted the agreement with private hospitals and is now trying to keep it secret. Even MLAs could not obtain the details."

The ruling party took the matter to the High Court after the Information Commission forced the issue. The court ruled that since the documents involve public money and community interest, they belong in the public eye. Vanchhawng remains unimpressed. He argued the administration is increasingly hostile toward transparency and suggested that even the Chief Minister refuses to answer formal queries.

The MNF alleges a pattern of abuse. Officials are missing deadlines and ignoring requests for accountability. Vanchhawng warned that the government must change its ways to stop the decay of democratic standards in Mizoram.
