Mizo National Front Gears Up for 2028 Assembly Election Comeback

Aizawl: The Mizo National Front is rallying to reclaim power in the 2028 Mizoram Assembly elections. Senior vice president R Lalthangliana laid out the battle plan during a recent meeting with party workers. The party lost its grip on the state government during the 2023 vote. They secured only 10 of the 40 available seats.

Former chief minister Zoramthanga still leads the organization. Lalthangliana framed the party as the oldest political force in Mizoram and a true representative for all Mizo people. He told the crowd that the group is working hard to win the next cycle. "We are vigorously preparing to secure victory in the next Assembly polls, scheduled to be held in 2028, with the blessings of God and the support of the people," Lalthangliana said.

The current government remains in the hands of the Zoram People’s Movement. Chief Minister Lalduhoma leads that administration. MNF leadership spent the meeting discussing new initiatives to tighten their organizational structure. They want a clean sweep in four years.
