Aizawl: Mizoram BJP leaders shut down claims of a potential alliance with the ruling Zoram People's Movement on October 9. Party vice-president JB Rualchhinga dismissed reports of coalition talks as complete fabrications. The pushback follows allegations from Mizoram Congress president Lal Thanzara.
Thanzara recently claimed that a planned visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah was part of a plot to install a BJP legislator as Deputy Chief Minister. Shah's visit was later cancelled. Rualchhinga set the record straight at a press conference. "The Congress president's statements about the BJP-ZPM tie and induction of a BJP MLA in the present ZPM government were total lies. We have never had a dialogue regarding the alliance," Rualchhinga said.
ZPM president and Chief Minister Lalduhoma also denied any partnership. He maintains his party will stay a regional force rather than join the National Democratic Alliance. While Lalduhoma seeks good ties with the central government, he insists no formal pact exists. Rualchhinga noted that any bid for the NDA must come from the ZPM through central party leadership.
The BJP slammed the Congress for pushing misinformation. They claim the opposition party lacks actual policy results and prefers distraction over service. To counter this, the BJP started the Seva Setu Abhiyan on Friday. This new campaign helps locals sign up for various central government welfare programs.
