Assam Rifles Seize Over 9 Crore in Drugs and Contraband in Mizoram

Aizawl: Assam Rifles personnel intercepted 9.27 crore worth of illegal goods across Mizoram on October 8. Soldiers executed two separate raids to halt the smuggling. They found massive stashes of narcotics and foreign tobacco.

The first strike occurred in the Tlangsam area of Champhai district. Troops discovered 11 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden inside 10 boxes. This haul carries a street value of 8.80 crore. The unit transferred these drugs to the state Excise and Narcotics Department for legal action.

Later, a joint team with the Aizawl District Executive Force stopped a vehicle at Seling. They uncovered 14 master boxes and 249 individual boxes containing 1,89,800 foreign cigarette sticks. This contraband is worth 47.45 lakh. Officers arrested one person at the scene. The agency stated, "The individual, along with the cigarettes and vehicle, was handed over to the Aizawl District Executive Force for further investigation and legal proceedings."
