Aizawl: Mizoram Police recovered 1.06 crore rupees for fraud victims throughout 2026. Officers used the Money Restoration Module and court orders to claw back the stolen cash. They arrested nine suspects in connection to these cyber crimes. Police caught these individuals in various parts of the state.
The Mizoram government established the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre on July 27. This unit functions as a branch of the Mizoram Police. It handles investigations, social media monitoring, and emergency response. The center resolved 28 specific grievances regarding bank accounts blocked due to fraudulent transactions. Officials stated: "The centre coordinates cybercrime detection, investigation and prosecution, besides undertaking mitigation measures, public awareness campaigns, social media monitoring and emergency response."
Authorities also scrubbed indecent content from social media platforms by removing unlawful URLs. They collaborated with law enforcement agencies in other states to track suspects. Beyond enforcement, the police ran 89 safety programs for 9,376 students in local schools and colleges. They broadcasted fraud prevention tips via All India Radio, Doordarshan Kendra, and local cable channels.
Victims should call the national helpline at 1930 or visit the reporting portal at cybercrime.gov.in. Help is also available at the Cyber Crime police station located at the SP Aizawl Office in Treasury Square.
