Aizawl: Mizoram Police clawed back 1.06 crore for cybercrime victims this year. They used the Money Restoration Module and legal orders to return the stolen cash. Nine suspects sit in custody after police tracked them down across the state. Officers also resolved 28 bank account blocking complaints through a dedicated grievance module.

The state government officially set up the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre on July 27. It functions as a separate unit under the police force to manage investigations and public outreach. The unit focuses on crime mitigation, social media monitoring, and emergency response. Police worked alongside law enforcement agencies in other states to trace suspects. They also purged indecent online content by scrubbing unlawful URLs from social media platforms.

Police hit the streets to educate the public. They held 89 programs in schools and colleges, reaching 9,376 students. Outreach efforts included talk shows on All India Radio, local cable channels, and Doordarshan Kendra. Officials maintain a constant watch on digital threats.

"The centre is tasked with coordinating cybercrime detection, investigation and prosecution," according to the official police statement. Victims of financial fraud should call the 24-hour helpline at 1930 immediately. Reports can also be filed at cybercrime.gov.in. Residents can visit the Cyber Crime Police Station on the third floor of the SP Aizawl Office in Treasury Square for help.
