Guwahati: Bongaigaon Police dismantled a cybercrime ring operating out of riverine regions in Assam. Senior Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta led the special operation after receiving reliable intelligence tips. Officers arrested three men, Manowar Hussain, Ikramul Khan, and Hamidul Islam.
Police seized mobile phones, ATM cards, and other evidence during the raid. The suspects allegedly migrated from a neighboring district to run the scam. They swindled local victims out of cash for months. Mahatta warned that more arrests are coming. "The operation against cyber crime will continue, and other members of the racket will soon be brought to justice," Mahatta said.
The crackdown brings relief to residents worried about rising digital crime. Authorities plan to expand the investigation to identify further syndicate members.
