Guwahati: Abhayapuri police cuffed two men for running a cybercrime racket. Farijul Islam, 21, and Rafijul Haque, 24, allegedly funneled dirty money through a local bank branch. Both suspects live in Kokila Second Part, Bongaigaon.
Trouble started at the Abhayapuri branch of Bandhan Bank. Officers spotted suspicious movement in a specific account. The paper trail linked the cash flow to cybercrime activities. Police acted fast. They raided the area and hauled the duo into custody.
Authorities logged Case No. 222/2026 at the Abhayapuri Police Station. The charges fall under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A local court granted officers two days to grill the suspects. Police said the investigation is underway to identify other individuals allegedly involved in the cybercrime network and trace the suspected proceeds of crime.
