Imphal Women Vendors Demand Government Resign After Triple Killing

Imphal: Women vendors from Khwairamband Ima Keithel took to the streets Thursday. They staged a sit-in protest and marched from Ima Keithel to Kasturi Bridge and back. The group demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, and MP A. Sarda. They blame the leadership for the recent deaths of three Meitei civilians.

These victims reportedly traveled to Sanalok, also known as Khongbal Tangkhul, to collect firewood. Kuki militants allegedly killed them there. The brutal act sparked immediate outrage. It shredded public trust in state security.

Thingujam Rani, secretary of the Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup, addressed the crowd during the protest. She hammered the state leadership over their hollow claims regarding safe travel. "Terming the incident unfortunate, she said those responsible for ensuring people's safety must take responsibility for the killings."

Rani pointedly questioned how citizens could move freely when simple tasks like gathering wood turn deadly. The rally represents a direct challenge to BJP leaders who previously promised security across Manipur. The vendors demand accountability. The political pressure on the administration is rising fast.
