Manipur Child Rights Body Demands Policy Action by November 14

Imphal: The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights wants the state government to fast track the Manipur State Policy for Children, 2026. Officials must finish legal paperwork and grab Cabinet approval by November 14. This deadline aligns with National Children's Day.

MCPCR Chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar pushed for the finish line. The commission wants this done now. They noted the draft first hit the public domain on November 12, 2020, under Notification No. AB-301(4)2/2020-SW-SW. Authorities issued a revised draft with the same notification number on June 26, 2026.

Pradipkumar led the 2017 drafting committee. He described the project as a deep commitment to the welfare and growth of Manipur's youth. The policy carries heavy weight today. Nearly 30,000 children remain displaced by ethnic violence across Naga, Kuki, and Meitei communities. Their futures hang in the balance.

The MCPCR warned that foot-dragging keeps kids from necessary safeguards. They argued that "further delay would postpone an important policy commitment to children." The commission demands the state secure their rights to safety, dignity, and a stable future without any more excuses.
