Guwahati: A young male Royal Bengal tiger turned up dead in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. Forest personnel on routine patrol discovered the carcass Friday near the Teteliguri forest camp in the Kohora Range. Officials later arrived on the scene to recover the body.

The deceased tiger was roughly four years old. It bore several visible injury marks across its body. Park authorities suspect the animal died following a violent territorial confrontation with another male tiger. Based on the injuries, the situation remains clear. Park management confirmed that a "veterinary team conducted a post-mortem examination in accordance with the prescribed procedures of the National Tiger Conservation Authority."

Officials burned the carcass following the post-mortem. This follows the strict protocols set by the National Tiger Conservation Authority. Park staff are still reviewing the findings of the examination to determine the definitive cause of death.
