Guwahati: Assam BJP MLA Diganta Kalita lashed out at Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Saturday, November 7. He accused the veteran politician of ignorance regarding India's past. The sharp rebuttal followed Gandhi's recent criticism of the BJP. Kalita insisted she lacks a basic understanding of the independence movement and the decades that followed.
Kalita issued a blunt challenge to the former Congress president. "Sonia Gandhi needs to understand how India attained its independence. She does not seem to grasp India's history. I suggest you properly study Indian history, both the period leading up to independence and the era that followed," he said.
The legislator pressed Gandhi on her own political track record. He questioned why she never occupied the Prime Minister's office despite her seniority. Kalita claimed the Gandhi family, not the BJP, holds the real blame for threatening the nation. He told her to check her own record before pointing fingers at others. He argued the agenda to break down the republic actually stems from within her own household.
