Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered BJP rallies at every district headquarters from October 13 to October 31. The move follows Rahul Gandhi leading an INDIA bloc protest march in New Delhi on October 12. Tensions are boiling over. Gandhi intends to march from Connaught Place toward the Supreme Court to demand accountability from the Election Commission of India.

The Chief Justice of India previously refused to meet with opposition MPs regarding the poll body's performance. Undeterred, Gandhi urged students and civil society to join the demonstration. He declared on social media, "March for Democracy. March for Justice. Chalo Dilli." Sarma fired back, accusing the Congress leader of trying to force his will upon the judiciary. He stated, "Constitutional institutions cannot be made answerable to a party’s electoral frustrations."

Sarma alleges the Congress ignores results when they win but attacks the process when they lose. He claims the BJP rallies will expose efforts to blackmail state institutions and protect illegal infiltrators during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The party intends to solidify support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2047 development goals.

Delhi authorities locked down the capital to manage the crowds. Police deployed the Rapid Action Force and the Central Reserve Police Force near Barakhamba Road. Officials shut down six metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk and Janpath, until 4 pm on October 12. Congress MP Jebi Mather slammed the security heavy-handedness as an attempt to suppress citizens.

Congress leaders allege the BJP is actively suppressing young voters through the electoral roll revision process. MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna claimed the ruling party wants to block Gen Z participation. This standoff follows earlier accusations by Gandhi regarding police violence against women and students who demanded the resignation of Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The political fighting continues.
