Kaziranga National Park Opens Elephant Safaris November 1

Guwahati: Kaziranga National Park opens for the 2026-27 tourist season on November 1. Elephant safaris remain the park's primary draw for visitors. Staff are currently busy prepping the UNESCO World Heritage Site to host domestic and international travelers.

Domesticated elephants are arriving from across Assam to support the operation. Teams are moving the animals from North Guwahati, Goalpara, Sipajhar, and Mangaldai. The trek takes them along National Highway 715 through Kaliabor. Curious residents often stop to watch the elephants transit toward the park.

Kaziranga is famous for its greater one-horned rhinoceros population. The park relies on its vast grasslands and wetlands to attract wildlife enthusiasts. These safari experiences offer a unique look at the biodiversity of the Brahmaputra Valley. Operators expect a busy season ahead for the region. As one official noted, the start of the season is "one of the park's key wildlife tourism attractions."
