Guwahati: Assam is shaking off the monsoon. The state will throw open its gates to wildlife tourists starting October 2. Three major destinations are ready for the crowds.
Manas National Park kicks things off on October 2. Kaziranga National Park opens the very next day, October 3. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary rounds out the schedule, opening its doors to nature lovers on October 13.
The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the timeline on Thursday. Officials want visitors back in the forests and grasslands. Environment and Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah encouraged travelers from home and abroad to book their trips. He stated, “With the monsoon giving way to a new tourism season, Assam is ready to welcome visitors back to some of its most iconic wildlife destinations.”
Forest Department teams are currently on the ground. They are prepping the sites to ensure a smooth start for the season. This move signals a push to reignite interest in the state’s massive biodiversity.
