Kohima: Sungro Government Higher Secondary School faces a severe staffing crisis. A lack of teachers and instructors is grinding progress to a halt. A visiting delegation, including Wokha Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao and Senior SDEO Nchumbemo Jami, toured the facility on Monday to assess the damage.
School Principal R Mhonlumi Yanthan pressed the officials to push the government for more hires. She also reported that the school finally received 20 sets of furniture on September 21. This delivery followed years of pleading from civil society groups and school leadership. Yanthan thanked the department for the long-awaited support.
Tsanglao urged the staff and students to press on despite the hardships. He told the students to stay focused on their work. "The DC assured that the grievances raised by the school would be taken up with the concerned authorities and efforts would be made to address the issues."
SDEO Jami pushed for better academic results. He demanded that everyone stay committed to the school's growth. The team from Mission Shakti joined the officials for the site visit.
