Kohima: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee leaders gathered in Tuensang on Wednesday to launch the Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao campaign. Party workers from Tuensang, Noklak, and Longleng districts met at the District Bhavan to address irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Key figures present included AICC Observer Puran Chand Padhi, NPCC Working President Apok Jamir, Vice-President W Akum, and department chairmen Andrew Humtsoe and Kumjimong.
Jamir slammed the electoral process, citing mass deletions in Delhi as a warning for Nagaland. He directed workers to scour local rolls for discrepancies. Every single vote counts. The party aims to stop the systematic removal of legitimate citizens from the registry. Jamir expressed his gratitude to those who traveled from distant districts to solidify this grassroots effort.
Padhi challenged the central control of the current system. He argued that the authority once held by local Booth Level Officers has been stripped away. He claimed the process now targets political opponents of the BJP to rig the outcome. Padhi told the crowd, "depriving people of this right amounted to suppressing their voice." He demanded that workers canvass every corner of their constituencies to verify identities and ensure no eligible voter loses their registration.
