Assam Police Seize Massive Narcotics Haul in Two States

Guwahati: Assam law enforcement made major drug busts on August 1. Police intercepted a Tata Nexon in Amingaon, Kamrup district, leading to the arrest of three men from Manipur. The suspects are Kh Tabish, 24, Thekcham Avinash Singh, 41, and Nongmaithem Biswajit, 38. Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak led the operation. Officers found 50,000 Yaba tablets and 67.5 grams of heroin hidden in secret compartments. Officials estimate the haul is worth up to Rs 12.5 crore.

Separately, police in Manipur apprehended Bhima Panika, 42, near the Assam-Manipur border. Officers discovered 5.21 kg of brown sugar inside his vehicle at Leingangpokpi in Jiribam district. Panika resides in Panika Basti, Karbi Anglong. Authorities seized the vehicle and booked the suspect. Investigators are now tracking the supply chains for both cases. “Further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the narcotics consignment,” police stated regarding the Amingaon seizure.
