Kohima: Dimapur police shattered an organized interstate drug ring. They arrested five suspects and seized 33 grams of suspected cocaine. The haul is currently undergoing forensic testing. Authorities launched the operation following the arrest of a local kingpin.
Tohuka Sema, 35, allegedly acted as the primary supplier based in Dimapur. Police also nabbed Yeka Awomi, 30, in Pune, Maharashtra. Officers tracked two others, 22-year-old Biresh Kumar and 35-year-old Akhtar Hussain, to Delhi. They also took delivery agent Swantheiba Inkah, 25, into custody. Two more suspects remain at large.
The syndicate used commercial logistics to move product. They relied on services like DTDC Courier to shift drugs across state lines. The group operated with rigid, defined roles for procurement, payment layering, and final delivery. This was a sophisticated operation.
The investigation unearthed connections reaching across three states and overseas. Police confirmed the involvement of a Nigerian national. A case was filed at the West Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Officers are still tracking financial records and searching for additional associates.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police for Crime stated the force is dedicated to rooting out organized trafficking. "Members of the public have been requested to cooperate with the police by sharing any credible information relating to narcotics trafficking," the spokesperson said. Officials promised to keep all informant identities strictly confidential as they hunt for the remaining fugitives.
