Kohima: Dimapur Police dismantled an interstate drug trafficking syndicate operating across three states. Officers arrested five individuals, including a primary supplier, following an investigation into cocaine distribution via commercial courier channels. The department seized approximately 33 grams of suspected cocaine. They sent the substance for forensic examination.
The operation relied on a structured network using services like DTDC Courier Services. Participants held defined roles in procurement, payment layering, and delivery. Police registered a case at the West Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Authorities identified the arrested suspects as Tohuka Sema, alias Toka, 35, the alleged major supplier based in Dimapur; Yeka Awomi, 30, captured in Pune, Maharashtra; Biresh Kumar, 22, and Akhtar Hussain, 35, both apprehended in Delhi; and Swantheiba Inkah, 25, an alleged delivery agent. Two additional suspects remain at large outside Nagaland.
The investigation unearthed international connections. Police confirmed the alleged involvement of a Nigerian national in the enterprise. Regarding the ongoing probe, a police spokesperson stated, "Further investigation is in progress to identify additional associates, financial transactions, customers and the full extent of the organised network."
Officers continue to track financial trails and potential customers. They asked the public to report credible information regarding narcotics trafficking. The department promised strict confidentiality for all informants.
